About the author
I’m Timothy Pardoe, an Australian architect, illustrator and writer based in Hamburg, Germany.
Living far from home has deepened my connection to Australia: its vast spaces, hard light, wonderful characters and contradictions.
Writing brought me back to an old childhood friend, a world of pure imagination.
How the story is made.
I research and write the story, develop its characters and settings, and work through sketches, references and storyboards before making the finished pages.
I use generative AI to help produce the images, then select, refine, compose and lay them out as part of the book.
I want to be direct about that process. AI plays a meaningful role in the images.
The story, its world, and the decisions that shape each page are very much human.
